- Director
Last summer, Ollie directed a
highly successful and visually
impactive adaptation of Edith
Nesbit's 'The Enchanted Castle'
(Pleasance 2007) "the actors
engage and inspire their young
audience" (The Guardian), “the
cast bring boundless enthusiasm to it all” (The Stage).
In November of last year Ollie
directed a bold and ambitious
version of 'Dracula' set in an
open ended heated marquee,
"Enriching the atmosphere and
chilling the audience. The
production is extremely well
conceived. Hauntingly effective,"
(Varsity). Ollie also produced
'Alice Through the Looking-Glass'
(Pleasance) at the Edinburgh
Fringe 2006 (**** -
broadwaybaby). Other credits
include 'The Secret Garden' (2006)
“sparkling scenes, which tugged
suitably at the heart strings”
(TCS) and Aristophanes' 'The
Clouds'. Ollie has also event
managed large scale music and
comedy nights.
– Producer
Amanda produced 'The Enchanted Castle' (Pleasance 2007) at last year's Fringe, “An hour of fun” (The Guardian), featuring original publicity designs by Quentin Blake. Her most recent production credits include the sell-out show 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)' (ADC Theatre, Cambridge 2008) and 'Everyone We Know' (CSSD, 2008). Prior to this she produced an ambitious new outdoor adaptation of 'Dracula' (2006),“The production is extremely well conceived” (Varsity). Amanda also regularly acts as director and event manager for various ‘Murder Mystery’ evenings. She has also acted in many shows and musicals including ‘Into the Woods’ and ‘Whistle Down the Wind’.
- Technical Director
As Technical Director and Lighting Designer Alex co-developed 'Dracula' (2006) and 'The Enchanted Castle' (Pleasance 2007) “enhanced by dreamy light” (The Guardian) with Peaceful Lion Productions after enjoying taking on these roles for 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' (Pleasance 2006) “****” (broadwaybaby). Most recently Alex undertook his most ambitious challenge yet as the Lighting Designer for 'Once Upon a Time' the Footlights Pantomime, securing equipment sponsorship that featured Pulsar, Martin and DLC fixtures as well as a Pharos controller. Further credits include 'I'll be back before Midnight' (ADC Theatre, Cambridge 2007), 'Spartacus' (ADC/Footlights Panto 2005) “stunning lighting effects” (TCS) and assistant LD under Peter Harrison for 'Comedy of Errors' (Cambridge Arts Theatre 2005). He also has experience in product design within the entertainment industry through working for product developer/consultancy firm Carallon Ltd and loves to experiment with unorthodox staging and lighting techniques and effects.
– Composer and Sound Designer
Anil also worked with the rest of the crew on ‘Dracula’ and worked on ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ as the composer and sound designer. He has also composed an original score for film. Anil has received high praise as composer “He will have no trouble following the footsteps of John Williams” Varsity. He also plays drums in Cambridge rock band Anada.
– Technical Director / Sound Operator
Graham has been with Peaceful
Lion since 'Dracula' (2006) where
he was Assistant Lighting Designer
and since then has been Technical
Director and Lighting Designer on
'The Enchanted Castle' (Pleasance
2007). More recently he worked
as Lighting Designer on 'Once Upon
a Time' (ADC/Footlights Panto
2007) creating effects for a
Chromabank grid on a Pharos LPC
and in the process recorded one
of the largest numbers of cues
per show in the 150 year old
theatre! His latest project was as
Technical Director and Lighting
Designer for 'Dinner' (ADC Theatre,
Cambridge 2008) experimenting
with surreal, ambient lighting and
featuring live lobsters. Over the
past year Graham has also been
Production Electrician for 'I'll Be
Back Before Midnight', 'A
Midsummer Night's Dream',
'Return to the Forbidden Planet',
and 'Romeo and Juliet' (ADC
theatre, Cambridge). Graham was
also Lighting Designer and
Technical Director for ‘South
Pacific' (RGS 2006) and a concert
given by Howard Jones (2005).
Chris Taylor – Technical Director / Sound Operator
As a Lighting Designer Chris has recently worked on ‘Once Upon A Time’ (ADC/Footlights Pantomime 2007) involving an ambitious rig incorporating DLCs and Mac 250s, and ‘Dinner’ (ADC Theatre, Cambridge 2008) for which he was also Technical Director, which used a vibrant cyc to provide a surreal backdrop to a bizarre dinner party. Chris has also been Lighting Designer for ‘South Pacific’ (RGS High Wycombe 2006), which he was also Stage Manager for, a concert given by Howard Jones (RGS 2005) and the ‘Chantraine Dance Festival’ (2004-2006). He has also been a Production Electrician for ‘I’ll Be Back Before Midnight’, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the ADC theatre, Cambridge and ‘The Man Who Came To Dinner’ (RGS, 2003) and ‘Singing in the Rain’ (RGS 2004) and the Peaceful Lion production of ‘Dracula’ (2006).
Nick Drofiak – Scene Designer
This is the first show Nick has Scene Designed. He has, however, helped build sets, been Art Department Assistant on a short film and helped design and build a pavilion for the 2008 National Eisteddfod in Cardiff. For last year’s Fringe he built a bespoke trolley for Peaceful Lion’s ‘The Enchanted Castle’. “It looks like it might fall over,” said Alex Drofiak. It did, but only once, and that was in a preview so it didn’t matter. Nick likes World Music and plays the accordion against his better judgement. Will build set for food.
Jon Spriggs – Stage Manager
Jon is an Engineering student at the University of Cambridge, but to be
honest he probably spends more time at the ADC theatre and has recently
become secratary of the University Amateur Dramatics Club. Jon is an
experienced stage manager having recenlty been deputy stage manager for the
ADC/Footlights pantomime 'Once Upon a Time' and for a production of 'Return
to the Forbidden Planet'. He has also stage managed '1984', 'Dinner' and
'Our Country's Good'. He has also toured Europe with a production of
'Macbeth' SMing 15 performances over 3 weeks in Switzerland, Belgium,
France and Germany. However, this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival is Jon's
first and he is very much looking forward to the challenge of working with
so much crazy set in such small venues!
